John Glover has been manager of Mountain Bike Specialists since 1981 when the store was The Outdoorsman.
John has a bachelor degree from Specialized Component University and is a certified fit specialist. In addition, John studied with Dr. Andy Pruitt at the Center for Sports Medicine in Boulder, Colorado and attended the Science of Cycling Serrota Program.

Ryan Barthel is our lead mechanic and assistant manager.
Ryan has a bachelor degree from Specialized Component University and is a certified fit specialist. Ryan studied with Dr. Andy Pruitt at the Center for Sports Medicine in Boulder, Colorado, and is certified by the the Science of Cycling Serrota Program.
Barthel recently attended the SRAM Technical University where he received training in drive train components, Avid brake systems and RockShox suspension.

Mike Phillips has a bachelor degree from Specialized Component University and is a certified fit specialist. He is one of our premier fit specialists.
He enjoys road riding, mountain biking and commuting to work in all kinds of weather ("It's all about the clothing," Mike will say.)

Hal McLean is known as a cycling icon in Durango. His involvement with the Durango Wheel Club and his 26 years of participating in the Iron Horse Bicycle Classic makes him a local legend.
McLean has a bachelor degree from Specialized Component University and is a certified fit specialists.

Diane Shaline is a native of Durango and graduated from Durango High School. She has a bachelor degree from Specialized Component University and is a certified fit specialist. She also is a coach for Iron Horse Training.

Amanda Kiessel is our service writer.  She works one-on-one with customers to address questions about the maintenance needed on their bikes. Kiessel has been riding since high school and raced cross country in northern Michigan before she made her way to Durango to attend Fort Lewis College.

Patti Zink handles the marketing, public relations, special events and personnel for MBS. Zink graduated from Ohio State University. She has a bachelor degree from Specialized Component University and is a certified fit specialist. In addition, she is a certified Le Monde spinning coach and USA Cycling Level 3 coach. She coaches our Iron Horse Training.

Spencer is a Fort Lewis College student who hails from Colorado's Front Range. He is willing to help with just about everything around the shop, and is a great addition to our Customer Service team.
Ed Zink is the resident visionary at Mountain Bike Specialists. As a young man, he started working at The Outdoorsman in 1968 while attending Fort Lewis College. After assuming ownership and as the business environment changed, Ed altered the focus of the shop to cycling, and renamed the store "Mountain Bike Specialists".
Ed is a member of the Mountain Bike Hall of Fame. He is a former Vice President of USA Cycling, and was an official for the inaugural cross country races in the 1996 Atlanta Olympics. He is a Level 3 cycling coach certified by USA Cycling, and coaches Iron Horse Training .
